The SEC-StarHub School Green Awards (SGA) is a self-audited voluntary environmental programme which serves as a platform for students to develop and showcase their environmental efforts, through customised activities which will help them gain better understanding of the environment.
Every year, submissions come from preschools, primary schools, secondary schools, junior colleges, international schools, schools for students with special needs and institutes of higher learning. SGA also receives submissions from schools overseas. In 2020, we continue to focus on the role of advocacy by students, who are required to initiate and lead their own environmental outreach project.
As the title sponsor of SGA for the seventh year, StarHub Limited aims to further environmental outreach efforts to all schools across Singapore.
- To equip students and staff to become responsible advocates of the environment
- Students to form good environmental habits and involve the wider community in environmental efforts
- Schools to play a key role and be a part of a recognised environmental programme
- Achieve real and positive environmental impact
Singapore Environment Council
The Singapore Environment Council (SEC) is an independently managed, non-profit and non-governmental organisation (NGO) and an institution of public character (IPC). As a thought leader on environmental sustainability, SEC influences thinking and practices by engaging the 3P sectors (People, Private and Private) through a range of holistic programmes: the Singapore Environmental Achievement Awards (SEAA), School Green Awards (SGA), Singapore Green Labelling Scheme (SGLS), and other certification programmes, such as: Eco-Office, Eco-Shop, Eco-F&B and Eco-Events. In addition, our Training and Education arm provides the community and business sectors with the opportunity to develop awareness, knowledge, skills and tools to protect and improve our environment for a more sustainable future.
