Eco – Certifications
Eco Certifications are a critical integral component of GreenDNA, an internationally recognised accreditation system that encourages organisations to adopt a Low Carbon Lifestyle, a green mindset of using One Less, and the practice of Responsible Consumption, rewarding them with internationally recognised carbon emissions reduction (CER) reports and the GreenDNA certificate of accreditation. Our SEC’s Eco Certification Programmes
Our enhanced Eco Office Certification has since guided 700 offices (click) in implementing effective environmentally-friendly practices by increasing eco-consciousness among staff, which in turn helps organisations manage waste by reducing the usage of paper, water and electricity.
Launched in December 2018, the enhanced Eco Office programme provides applicants with new tools and approaches to begin their certification journey. This includes a greater focus on change management and driving behavioural changes amongst employees.
A tier system was also introduced to help companies improve over time, and to recognise their efforts and achievements. The tier categories are Eco Office Premium, Professional, Champion and Elite. Offices are encouraged to move up the tiers as they progress. The top Elite category is awarded to offices that have achieved excellent environmental performance, and done well to spread the green message amongst employees.
Prior to certification, SEC engages and provides applicants with tools and information to work on their Office Environmental Guidelines via its “Eco Office Enhanced Capability Building Programme”. After certification, SEC will continue on a yearly basis to guide companies on improving identified environmental gaps, through an Eco Office Health Check. Companies will also be able to connect with SEC via its Eco Office “E-Concierge Service” – a platform where SEC can help companies address environmental queries pertaining to their office environment.

The Eco Shop certification is based on a scoring system to evaluate the environmental performance of retail shops in the areas of Environmental Management & Awareness, Purchasing & Operations, Air Quality, Energy Conservation, Waste Management, and Water Conservation.

The Eco F&B is a certification programme that assesses the environmental management system of a food establishment. Operators learn how to further reduce their carbon footprint by incorporating environmentally-friendly measures into their business practices.
Eco F&B certified businesses enjoy benefits such as gaining consumers’ recognition for being civic-mindedness, saving on utilities/ paper consumption, using the eco-certification credentials (name cards, paper bags, shop fronts, marketing collaterals), reducing food wastage and cultivating a green culture organisation that customers can identify and relate to.

Manufacturing is an important economic sector that also greatly impacts the environment. The Eco Manufacturer certification programme is designed to help factories conduct a survey of the various impact areas of their operations. This will help develop strategies as well as action plans which are translated into actual measures on the ground to reduce these impacts and help safeguard the environment.
The programme targets the critical operational environmental impacts in procurement, manufacturing process, warehousing and transportation, and entails compliance with criteria requiring the factories to draw up resource, wastewater, chemical and energy management plans and implement efficiency targets.

Warehousing is at the heart of the logistics industry, a key and integral cog of the Singapore economy and its global standing as an air, maritime and trading hub. While what first comes to mind are cavernous halls with high roofs complete with rows and rows of shelves stacked with goods, warehouse operations actually involve managing the use of resources and have their own carbon footprint.
SEC’s Eco Warehouse Certification aims to optimise the use of energy and transportation, as well as promote waste reduction. It also looks into the safety aspects by focusing on the proper handling of hazardous substances.
