1. CAN A SCHOOL SUBMIT MORE THAN ONE APPLICATION?
Each school will be allowed to submit ONE application consisting of Part A and Part B with the unique set of login details provided. It is great if there has been more than one outreach project carried out in the year, however please choose to submit only one project for Part B, preferably the newest and most impactful initiative.
2. HOW WILL MY SCHOOL’S SGA SUBMISSION BE REVIEWED?
Schools should answer both Part A and Part B in order to score the most points possible to achieve one of the SGA tiered level awards. Part A accounts for 50% of the overall SGA score, while Part B accounts for the remaining 50%. Both parts are scored based on a point system. We will also take into consideration the supporting materials provided as attachments.
You may refer to the SGA Framework for more information.
3. WILL THE SGA TIERED LEVEL AWARDS STILL BE EFFECTIVE?
Yes, the SGA tiered level awards are still effective and dependent on each school’s submission. Please refer to the Awards Criteria for more details.
4. CAN I SHARE ABOUT AN EXISTING/ON-GOING PROJECT FOR PART B?
Yes, you can! If your school has carried out environmental initiatives with the community in previous years and intend to continue running it for 2019, please share it with us! It does not need to be a completely new activity, although it would be nice to see how creative your ideas can be for this year.
5. WHAT IS THE ASSESSMENT PERIOD FOR 2019?
The assessment period for 2019 is from 1 September 2018 to 30 August 2019. Schools’ submission of answers and projects should have taken place within this time frame.
6. IS THERE A LIMIT TO HOW MANY INDIVIDUALS CAN BE PART OF THE GREEN TEAM?
There is no limit to the number of individuals in the green team! Teachers in-charge could hand pick a few key individuals from the green/environment club to take charge of the project. Alternatively, a whole class could also represent the school with their outreach project.
7. WHAT CAN I DO IF MY SCHOOL’S SUBMISSION FOR PART B EXCEEDS THE WORD LIMIT?
We have implemented a word limit to the questions in Part B to ensure that all schools will submit a fair amount of information as best as possible. Please try to revise your answer to fit the word limit, or include more pictures in the supporting documents to better explain your school’s project.
8. CAN MY SCHOOL PARTNER WITH EXTERNAL ORGANISATIONS TO ORGANISE A COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENTAL OUTREACH PROJECT?
Yes, of course! This is highly recommended as green teams will benefit through advice and guidance from our supporting partners, who are experts in their respective environmental fields. You will have the chance to meet these representatives at the SGA Workshops. However, do note that participation in external organisations’ programmes does not suffice as a community outreach project for Part B. Schools should initiate their own outreach projects ideas, and comprise of student leadership roles.
9. WILL MY SGA ACCOUNT EXPIRE?
We strongly recommend that all schools complete their online SGA submission 30 days from the date that they registered. All data might be cleared or refreshed after 30 days.
