Swire Pacific Offshore's journey to be one of the more eco-friendly offices in Singapore

Swire Pacific Offshore (SPO) is continuously striving to be the "best in class" on environmental issues and that is why back in 2010 the Company applied for and was awarded the Eco-Office accreditation label to their Head Office at the Concourse Building on Beach Road and its Training Centre in Loyang. SPO was among the first 50 companies in Singapore to obtain the eco-label and was very proud of it. This established the base line against which our on-going performance is being measured, and we were successfully re-accredited earlier this year.

Since 2010, SPO has instituted a number of eco-office initiatives which are also a part of the broader Sustainable Development initiatives worldwide and in-line with company's Environmental Policy. All SPO Singapore based personnel are aware of and proactively supporting eco initiatives which range from energy savings, limiting the amount of printing to recycling everything that can be recycled and using water wisely. You will not find any disposable cutlery and crockery in our pantries and we do not use bottled water. Our purchasing policies stipulate that we only use paper from sustainable sources and we give preference to suppliers who use environmentally friendly products.

Our recycling effort was the most significant achievement of all, with the amount of paper recycled increasing by 28% over the period of 2 years.

We are continuously raising awareness of environmental issues among our staff through supporting a FairTrade organic coffee/tea business from South America, participating in annual WWF-run Earth Hour event, carpooling and taking on a challenge of climbing mountains for a seafarers' charity.

We are grateful to the Singapore Environmental Council for their on-going support and guidance on our journey to be one of the more eco-friendly offices in Singapore!
